CDEX CARBON
CDEX CARBON
At CDEX we believe the way to address climate change is not via Carbon Capture. If fact, quite the opposite.

Via a type of new technology, the company has developed a cost effective means to separate CO2, not capture it. This approach is a far better one. CO2 is not a harmful compound by itself. But it excess quantity it is.

Road Map
The goals of the Paris Accord, while noble, have proved at out reach and it is a foregone conclusion that adhering to a limit of 1.5C temperature rise is not possible.
In addition and possibly worse, the informally established tipping point deadline of April 2033, is at this point, unachievable as well.
While renewables have provided an carbon free source of energy, it is not enough. The crux of the matter is that the primary sources of energy are carbon based and will be for the foreseeable future.
Compromise is necessary. Rather than impose overly burdensome regulations, scrutiny and uncalled for criticism on fossil fuel based producers of electrical energy, more appropriate to acknowledge a debt of service owed. For without electricity where would we be.
The opportunity here is for fossil fuel producers to be the hero, not the villain and utilize CDEX to provide the means to de-carbonize emissions at the source. And with our assistance they will.

CO2 + Mg (heat) = C + MgO
The Science
The Button below will take you to the video that started this entire journey - the realization that sparklers eliminate CO2 emissions.
In the demonstration below, in the lower left hand side you will see a video. Click on the play button

The key metric is the top number on the blue digital reader and you will have to zoom in to see it clearly. It reads CO2 (ppm). It will cap out at approximately 4500 ppm (Parts Per Million) and then slowly and then more steadily decrease once the sparklers have begun to burn in the tail pipe.

The readings bottom out at approximately 1800 ppm and then rise once the sparklers have burned out and the reaction ceases.

This cycle is repeated 3 times as part of the demonstration.

The Explanation
It is actually very simple. The sparkler contains Mg (Magnesium) which actually consumes CO2 via heat. The CO2 molecule splits with the Carbon Falling off to become an infentesinmally small particle and the O (Oxygen) bonding with the Magnesium to form Magnesium Oxide

If you were to weigh the sparklers at the end of the demonstration, their weight is approximately the same as it was pre-ignition. While the nitrates and other ingredients burn, magnesium combines with the oxygen and actually becomes heavier. And as a side note Magnesium Oxide is a useful commodity selling for approximately $5 a pound in quantity.
